Box Office Associate (Student employment)

Commitment:

Academic Year 2025–2026 

10–18 hours per week 

Evening and weekend availability required for events 

Compensation:

$15.50 per hour  

Position Overview:

The Box Office Associate plays an essential role in shaping the audience experience at Community Performance Series (CPS) and campus events. This position focuses on ticketing operations, customer service, and front-of-house support to ensure smooth, professional, and welcoming experiences for all patrons. 

Responsibilities:

  • Operate ticketing software to process sales, exchanges, refunds, and will-call tickets 
  • Assist patrons with ticket selection, seating questions, and accessibility needs 
  • Provide courteous customer service in person, by phone, and via email 
  • Handle cash and credit card transactions with accuracy and accountability 
  • Support box office and front-of-house operations at events 
  • Contribute to event preparation 
  • Complete independent projects as assigned by the Audience Services Coordinator 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current SUNY Potsdam student in good academic standing (all majors welcome) 
  • Strong customer service and communication skills 
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn ticketing software (training provided) 
  • Ability to handle cash and electronic transactions accurately 
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends during event times 
  • Professionalism, punctuality, and reliability in a fast-paced environment 
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team in a public-facing environment 

Preferred Skills:

  • Enthusiasm for live performance and a commitment to excellent patron service 
  • Experience in customer-facing roles  
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) 
  • Availability to work 12–20 hours per week, including some evening and weekend availability
