The Community Performance Series is a major performing arts venue in the North Country, bringing several guest artists to the region and inspiring local youth with exceptional arts education programming. Internships are available throughout CPS to support our work delivering exceptional productions and shows.
Interns at CPS work when they are free during CPS business hours. We will work with all prospective interns to craft a schedule that works for them.

Sell tickets to our patrons in-person, online, and by phone, and assist patrons during their visit to CPS. Available year-round.
Make youth education events possible by bringing in audiences, securing materials, and delivering an exceptional experience. Available year-round.

Julia Ellison '28 just completed her first year as a Box Office Associate and Youth Programming Coordinator at the Community Performance Series. As a music education student, she has had the chance to bring music and fine arts to children and community members across the North Country. Julia helped organize the annual Stearns-Cottrell Instrument Petting Zoo this past year, giving 4th grade students from St Lawrence County the opportunity to try band and orchestra instruments. Her other duties include selling tickets, hospitality, and other production-related side quests. Julia is currently a sophomore at the Crane School of Music majoring in music education and studio art. When she’s not in the box office or practicing her clarinet, Julia likes playing Dungeons & Dragons, drawing in her sketchbook, and spending time with her family in Potsdam.
Michael Wong '26 is the Youth Programming Coordinator intern at the Community Performance Series. In this position, he is responsible for planning and overseeing the Instrument Petting Zoo with CPS staff and the Crane School of Music.

Internships are available to high school students interested in theatrical productions in the performing arts. Applications due May 1.
The Box Office and Audience Services internship focuses on delivering an exceptional experience for patrons from their ticket sale to their departure from CPS facilities.
The Business and Marketing internship provides hands-on experience in digital marketing, event promotion, audience development, and business operations within a performing arts organization.
The Youth Programming Coordinator internship provides experience planning arts education events for K-12 students, including work in arts administration, community outreach, educational programming, and audience development.
CPS is an employer in SUNY Potsdam's Presidential Internship Program, an initiative bringing exceptional interns to local employers in the North Country. The program offers support for a six-credited internship and provides a $4,000 stipend in addition to compensation from CPS. Visit SUNY Potsdam's website to learn more.
Interns must be SUNY Potsdam students in good-standing. All majors are welcome, but some positions may prefer students from certain majors.
Each internship experience demands different skillsets, but common requirements include:
- Strong organizational, communication, and research skills;
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Teams); and
- Passion for the performing arts.
